We are sometimes reminded during the work of LP sessions that meditation can be a useful way to allow the Lord to work on us. It isn’t something that all of us make time for, and isn’t often the gateway we use to access our work. Swedenborg used meditation daily in his life. He would frequently meditate on a passage from the Word, a guiding religious thought, or a scientific principle. He would then be given experiences by the Lord.
You are invited to be part of a Swedenborgian meditation share in the month of January, hosted within The Upper Room website. To be part of the share, you simply need to be willing to meditate and report what happened. The style of the report would be similar to an LP submission, in that a principle, or focus text for the meditation, would be written down, after that would be your report of what thoughts and affections, visions, etc. flowed in. Sticking strictly to LP protocol here, participants wouldn’t be encouraged to dissect or explain WHY they experienced what they did.
One possible outcome of this time could be that we flex our meditation muscles, and improve our ability to use meditation in our work. Another outcome could be fellowship shared, as we work toward heightening our awareness of the world of spirits and the Lord’s presence with us.
